Participation Terms

How Participation Works

You let us observe how work normally runs. We don't interfere, don't evaluate anyone, and don't take anything confidential. Your organization is never named. You can stop at any time. Your operation stays yours, and our method stays ours.

What Participation Involves

A researcher observes normal operations for 2–4 sessions, plus one optional 30-minute conversation with a supervisor or team lead. Dates and times are always agreed with you in advance. Nothing about your processes, systems, or schedules changes.

What We Promise You

—

Anonymity. In anything published, your organization appears only in general terms — for example "a mid-size operational site in the Netherlands." No company name, no identifiable location, no staff names.

—

Confidentiality. Anything specific to your site that we see or hear stays between us. We don't take copies of internal documents, and we don't access your systems.

—

No evaluation of people. We study how knowledge moves through an operation, not how individuals perform. Our observations are not assessments of anyone and can't be used as such. We don't record names in our notes.

—

Respect for your staff. If anyone prefers not to be observed, we step back. No explanation needed.

—

No photos or recordings without your explicit written permission, and never of identifiable people.

—

Your rules on site. The researcher follows your safety instructions, induction requirements, and any directions from your staff at all times.

What We Ask From You

Access to observe during the agreed sessions, a contact person on site, and a short briefing on safety rules. That's all.

Who Owns What

—

Everything about your operation — your processes, data, and know-how — remains yours. We claim nothing from it.

—

The research method, the visual framework, the tools, and the findings of this study remain the property of Gezelex Research Initiative. Participation doesn't create any transfer of rights in either direction.

—

You're free to use the summary we give you inside your organization in any way you like.

Before Anything Is Published

You receive the findings summary before publication. If you believe any detail could identify your organization, tell us and we'll remove or generalize it. The research conclusions themselves remain the researcher's to draw. That independence is what makes the findings worth anything, including to you.

Ending Participation

Either side can end participation at any moment, for any reason, with a single email. Nothing is owed by either side. Anonymized observations already collected may still be used in aggregated form, unless you ask us to exclude them within 30 days.

The Formal Bits

—

Participation is free and voluntary. It creates no commercial relationship, no exclusivity, and no obligation to buy anything, now or later.

—

Our observations and summary are research, not professional advice. Decisions about your operation remain entirely yours.

—

The researcher is responsible for his own conduct on site. Your organization remains responsible for the safety of its site.

—

The researcher does not conduct field observations at organizations where he is employed or placed, or at their clients.

—

Personal data is handled as described in our Privacy notice.
